By all means, CE is quite outdated and when comparing it to most games in today's age, the game falls behind. However, you have to remember that this released in what... 2001? 2002 or 2003? In its time this game was shattering records and was a technological achievement. Imo, the game has aged well... unless of course, you're playing the PC port or the Anniversary one (that is also including the MCC) because the graphics there? Are inferior to the original on the Xbox. Take for instance: The shields the Covenant have; From time to time you'll see their "deployable" cover, and in the original they have this electric arc to them. In the MCC, Anniversary, and the PC port, its just a mesh of ugly colors. The shield doors on "Truth and Reconciliation" have this same problem. Before it looks like its made of energy, but in the ported versions its just a mesh of mess and makes it out to be ugly. On the same mission, right when you start, in the OG? You can tell the dirt/mud had some significant details. In the ported versions, you had to shine or had to have a direct light source on that said dirt/mud to have the details to show. This holds true as well to some of the detailing in Forerunner structures, where in the OG you can see that the walls and floors seem detailed. But in the ports, you again must have a direct light source shine on that surface to bring out that detail. Another similarly, is at the beginning of "Assault of the Control Room" where it pans up at the glass ceiling. In the OG, it looks like its raining/snowing, or some liquid of sorts sliding down the domed architecture. In the ported versions, its a mesh of messy colors and it just looks horrifically terrible. Even on that same mission when you look up in the sky, it looks bland and ugly, whereas in the OG, its a literal fog. In the ports you can see the outline of the canyon, in the OG you cannot. I believe a YouTuber by the name "Late Night Gaming" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6nZPrMSu0w) describes in complete detail about this. Now to get this out of the way... what I've said so far? Isn't my opinion (except for that I said the game has aged well). Its a fact. If you want to understand why, I'd recommend watching that video link. As for my opinions? I don't have an opinion. Actually, except for one: Halo CE SPV3. Actually, what I'm going to say is mostly fact, and somewhat subjective... Halo CE SPV3 dramatically boosts the experience of the OG Halo CE. It has a graphics overhaul, new weapons and vehicles, added sections to maps of missions, more missions, a secondary campaign called "Lumara" I think? That is my opinion... however, its also a fact given how... well... that its simply a direct improvement of the CE experience, by taking aspects from Halo 2, 3, 4, 5, even Halo Wars and mashing it together? Halo CE SPV3 turns Halo CE into a more modern version of itself, and adds more than quite literally, most AAA titles don't, and its just a mod! Personally, I'd love to play SPV3, however, I only have MCC on Xbox. That being said, I'm looking out for Halo CE PC games to make that SPV3 download and play what will essentially be a new experience all together... both in that, I rarely play FPS on PC, and that because of how much it adds?Read full review

Halo Combat evolved has probably one of the most well thought out story modes. Everything falls together. The graphics are great for its time. Online play is my favorite part about the game. There are four possible vehicles you can use online. Ghost, Banshees, Warthogs, and scorpion. There are at least a dozen maps to play on, and a variety of weapons to choose from. There are three different types of enemies in the story mode. The Covenant- Which are different types of Aliens, some of them are really easy to kill(Grunts),and some are very hard to kill(Hunters). Sentinels-Are Halos defense system. They are mini hovering spacecrafts that destroy all threats(Humans, Covenant & Flood), they are not particularly hard to destroy so don't worry. The Flood-Are parasitic enemies that are thought up to be the toughest of all enemies to defeat. The flood are often armed with either Human or Covenant weapons. The Flood are my least favorite enemies in the Halo game, just because their are so many of them. The Flood only appear in a few levels, so you don't have to deal with them throughout the entire game. If you have any questions about this game that I did not mention here, please contact me, I would be more than happy to answer all of your questions about this game. You don't have to own an Xbox to enjoy the likes of Halo. If you ever were curious about the game which has drawn a huge fan following but didn't own an xbox, this is your chance. First Person Shooter veterans will feel right at home with Halo's basic style and easily reconizable formula. New people to the genre will learn quickly and get a quick feel of how everything works. You can enjoy the fun of the single player game, or you can go where the real fun and action is (in my opinion) online. Duke it out with your friends or whoever you want and show them who is the king of Blood Gulch! While the visual performance lacks some of the luster of other games, and the game isn't as good as some of the other sci-fi FPS out there (cough cough Unreal Tournament), the game is still very addictive and a joy to play. Just remember, this game is intended for an older target audience, so hands off to the kiddies.Read full review
This game is exactly as described. Shipping was prompt considering the Christmas rush (it took about a week or so for it to arrive). My kids and I have been enjoying it ever since. Great price too, BTW. My only complaint is that after installing the software I noticed a GameSpy icon was installed on my desktop. So, I had to take a little extra time and delete this software application from my computer. If it weren't for that, I would've given it five stars. Bottom line: Great product at a great price. I highly recommend this product for gamers interested in a great adventure at a rock bottom price.
Hello I'll be reviewing Halo: Combat Evolved for Xbox and pc. This is one of the few epic games that have been released ever. This game has good a.i., story board and game play. Halo was announced in 1999 as a 3rd person shooter (with more weapons) on the pc and Mac but because it took so long to make it, it was ported on the Xbox in 2001. Fans were pleased. What most made this game one of the best was multiplayer mode, which people with Xbox live could battle each other via the internet. The campaign mode was also one of the best because of 4 different difficulty levels, easy - for first timers, normal - for people who want a little bit of a challenge, heroic - for people who want to be brave and legendary - for people who want to play in a heck like difficulty. About half way through the game when people were fighting the covenant they encountered a new foe, the flood. When I saw this I was amazed at what halo had done. Then in 2003 came the pc port for Halo which included 6 new multiplayer maps and you didn't need Xbox live to play online. The a.i. is good too, because when an enemy sees you, you might want to take cover because he'll call his buddy's to come and fight too. The story is one of the best also because it has sad & awesome moments and oh no what happened moments. That is what makes this game one of the greatest anyone has ever played.Read full review
